Very simple variable speed unit for small pumps - 230v

Controls

Single or multiple pumps, with fixed speed, pressure switch control.

Single or multiple pumps, with variable speed drive/inverter control.

This can be done in a number of ways, with drive unit/units contained within the control panel or on the motors as per the pictures, depending on manufacturer.

  1. Having one single pump from a multiple pump set on a drive/inverter unit which varies the speed of the pump, to keep a constant set pressure, with any assist pumps on the system being on fixed speed and the drive unit switching the assist pumps on/off as required to hold the required pressure. If there is no demand for water then the drive unit goes into sleep mode and stops all the pumps but will wake up and start again when the pressure starts to drop due to a new demand.
  2. Having all pumps on drive/inverters, these drives can interact with each other and auto change duty at set times or on each re-starts due to demand. They can vary speed individually or one drive can take the lead and use the other pumps as fixed speed, depending on the units fitted.

Panels can be fitted with various control circuits as follows.

  • Auto duty change over for even wear on pumps.
  • Manual duty change over of pumps.
  • Auto stop for feed tank low level. (requires float switch or probes in tank)
  • Auto stop for no water in suction pipe to pump. (Requires probe in suction line).
  • Hand/Off/Auto switch for each pump.
  • Pump run indication lamp for each pump.
  • Pump trip indication lamp for each pump.
  • Low level indication lamp for each pump.
  • No water indication lamp for each pump.
  • Power on indication lamp.
  • Amps drawn indication meter for each pump.
  • Anti condensation heaters inside panel.
  • Cooling fans fitted to panel.
  • 230/110volt Sockets for test instruments/maintenance equipment power supply.
